Working at Barista-Essentials

Barista-Essentials makes great coffee at home accessible to everyone.

We achieve this by developing the best barista tools for every machine and providing accessible information and service for all home baristas.

We are continuing to grow rapidly across Europe, but as a company, we are also still in full development. That is why we are always looking for enthusiastic fellow home baristas who want to build with us and contribute to our mission: helping as many people as possible brew their best coffee at home.

Vacancies

Unsolicited application at Barista-Essentials

We bring out the best in each other, we think big but start small, and we take our work seriously, but not ourselves. Do these core values resonate with you? Then please read on!

At Barista-Essentials, we help home baristas across Europe make better espresso at home. We do this with our own developed espresso tools, accessible content, and personal service that doesn't stop at checkout. No coffee snobbery, just the friend every home barista needs.

What started in 2019 as an idea from Hugo and Jasper in a squat office has since become a fast-growing e-commerce brand with its own product line, customers throughout Europe, and an ambitious team that keeps on growing.

No vacancies at the moment

We currently have no open vacancies. However, we are growing rapidly, and we’d love to meet talented people now. Are you someone who would make our team stronger? Then we’d love to hear from you.

We aren’t necessarily looking for a specific role, but rather a specific type of colleague. Someone who:

  • Gets energy from bringing out the best in others
  • Dares to think big, but also just gets started.
  • Does not take themselves too seriously, but does take their work seriously.
  • Is also a true friend to the home barista

Do you recognize yourself in this and do you have talent/experience that you think we need? Tell us about it.

What we offer you

You will join an enthusiastic team where coffee can be the topic of conversation all day long. We are working hard to build an international brand and believe it is important that everyone has the space to grow along with us.

  • Working at a fast-growing brand for home baristas.
  • A great office in Utrecht with (very) good coffee.
  • Plenty of room for your own initiative, development, and training.
  • A team that enjoys building and learning together, and of course, drinking coffee together regularly.

Interested in meeting us?

Email your CV and a short cover letter to sollicitaties@biristaessentials.com. Tell us who you are, what you are good at, and how you would make Barista-Essentials better. We read everything, but to be honest: without an open vacancy, it may take a while before you hear from us. Should a position open up that suits you, we will get in touch.

The people behind Barista-Essentials

  • Founder

    Hugo

Ever since I got my own espresso machine, I have been interested in designing quality accessories for it.

I enjoy refurbishing old espresso machines and helping friends keep their machines running like a charm. That is how the idea for Barista-Essentials was born.

With the right tools, I want to help other home baristas on their journey in the world of coffee.

  • Founder

    Jasper

Making delicious coffee with an espresso machine is not that difficult, but it can feel very overwhelming.

I still remember well when I filled the portafilter of my De’Longhi Dedica with standard drip grind coffee. What a difference in taste when Hugo explained the basic espresso recipe to me…

I now want to guide other home baristas past those first stumbling blocks with helpful tips and information.

  • Debbie

I am responsible for all visual expressions and the branding of Barista-Essentials. In addition, I develop the coffee recipes on the website.

I am a home barista who loves experimenting with recipes, tasting different coffees, and figuring out practical hacks to get the most out of the tools you have.

  • Friso

As a product designer, I test and design the tools for Barista-Essentials.

As a curious home barista with a background in mechanical engineering, I love experimenting with flavors, brewing methods, and gadgets. And when I'm not busy with coffee, I'm probably out and about with my assistant, Pleun.

  • Niels

I'm Niels, and I take care of a lot of practical matters and odd jobs.

What I find interesting about being a home barista is that you can put your own creative spin on everything (although I'm not much of a pro at latte art yet).

Furthermore, I study Industrial Design at TU/e and hope to be able to contribute to product development later on.

  • Koosje

You can usually find me behind the camera, where I’m busy creating fun and educational content for our socials. In addition, as a junior content and marketing assistant, I help with writing and developing our newsletter, page copy, and other content.

As a new home barista, I’m learning a ton about coffee and all the tools from the team. Of course, I don't keep that knowledge to myself; I love sharing it with you in our videos, tips, and posts :)

  • Stéphanie

As a support agent and home barista in training, I understand your coffee struggles like no other and am happy to help you with any coffee-related question!

In my coffee corner at home, I love to experiment – sometimes with success, sometimes with surprises, but always with joy.

My ultimate goal? Brewing coffee at home that is just as rich and flavorful as in my favorite coffee shops!

  • Pleun

I regularly go to the office with Friso, where I bring a smile to everyone's face.

I prefer nibbling on the office plants and taking cute naps, which makes everyone instantly forget the former.
